How to choose a towbar?
We want to ensure you choose the perfect solution for your needs, so we'll guide you through every step of the decision-making process. Trailer towbars are vehicle-specific and require modifications to the vehicle's design. To choose the right towbar, the first thing you need to consider is your vehicle information:
- Make
- Model
- Year and month of manufacture
- Body type
- Is this a special version (e.g., RS – sport version)?
- Is the car ready for a towbar (e.g., does it have wiring harnesses)?
- Has the car undergone any previous modifications that are noted in the vehicle registration document?
Types of towbars
 |
-
Fixed Towbar A fixed towbar is the most popular and least expensive type of towbar. The towballs in these types are bolted to the side or front, the latter usually also offering ball height adjustment. To remove the ballbar, unscrew the ball mounting bolts in the same way. This type of towbar is produced by all European towbar manufacturers.
NOTE - Fixed towbars are not permitted on vehicles where the towbar will obscure the license plate or lights. Typically, such vehicles have the license plate or fog light located at the bottom of the bumper. Therefore, we recommend using retractable or detachable towbars.

- Towbar with a vertically detachable ball.
A towbar that detaches vertically downward is the best solution for the most demanding customers. Once detached, the entire towbar socket and electrical outlet are hidden under the bumper, making them completely invisible, and the towbar's presence is completely hidden from view in the car. Furthermore, this ball has an anti-theft device in the form of a key. This system makes detaching the ball quick and easy, and it doesn't compromise the car's visual appearance.
How to install and remove the tow ball. The ball can be removed and installed vertically without the use of tools. To attach the tow ball, lift the lever and insert the ball into the ball socket located on the tow bar. To remove it, lift the lever and slide the ball out of the tow ball socket.

- Towbar with a horizontally detachable ball.
A horizontally detachable towbar is also a very popular type of towbar in vehicles. This type of ball detachs horizontally without the use of tools. To detach the towball, lift the lever and slide the ball out. This system makes the ball detachment process quick and simple. After detaching the ball, the towball socket can be visible under the bumper. This solution does not compromise the vehicle's visual appearance.
How to install and remove the tow ball. The ball is installed and removed horizontally without the use of tools. To attach the tow ball, lift the lever and insert the ball into the ball socket located on the tow bar. To remove it, lift the lever and slide the ball out of the tow ball socket.

- Towbars for vans.
Most vans require a special type of towbar mounted directly to the rear crossmember with two or four holes. This is standard for trucks and vans. These towbars usually also feature ball height adjustment. These types of ballbars are used in vans and trucks because they are easy to replace and very inexpensive.
